Participants will engage in somatic movement to access emotions and use art materials for further exploration and integration. This workshop will be led collaboratively by Michelle Warren of Somalchemy and Dr. Emily Nolan. Somatic movement is mindful of bodily sensations and connections to internal feelings. Participants will have a variety of art materials available to connect to their bodily experiences and freedom to creatively explore them in new ways.
Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented modality that helps heal trauma and other stress disorders. Developed by Peter Levine, Ph.D., it is the result of the multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, with more than 45 years of successful application.
